Why not one big thread?


I'm always looking for better in the Hollywood/Los Angeles CA. area but who do you use, and love in your city?


I figure this can only get better with time so add your thoughts and experience in your corner of this great nation

Also interested in one for the Hollywood/West LA area. I've heard Gustavo's on Westwood Blvd is good, but I haven't been there myself.

In the NE Tennessee/SW Virgina area, I highly reccomend Johnson City Alterations. The tailor, Yusuf, is excellent and the prices are quite inexpensive (pants hemmed + jacket taken in + sleeves shortened = $45-55).

I tried a lot of places and landed on this. The guy there knows the slim style that we like and knows how to make it look right

My only experience with tailoring is a guy called Silva at 'European Master Tailor' in downtown Portland, OR. I took a suit in to him, with the intention of getting of the trouser legs and jacket arms shortened, plus whatever else he recommended. He advised me to get the jacket taken out at the waist, which was actually the opposite of what I thought I needed. I was sceptical, and explained that I wanted it to be slim fitting, but decided to take his advice.


He finished it a couple days earlier than he had promised, and sure enough, his advice was exactly right - it looked the world better on me.


I would definitely go back to him for any work on blazers/suits/etc, but I think the prices he gave me for potential work on shirts was more than I can justify. So if anyone can recommend somewhere in Portland to sort out some of my looser fitting shirts...
