    Panic mode - wedding tie

Wedding is a little over a week away and I have now come to terms with the fact that I do not have a tie that I would like to wear. The reason for the panic is that I am indeed the groom.

This is a casual summer wedding, and the suit is a navy blue linen thing with slim features. I will most likely be wearing a white shirt, black shoes. I am a pale fellow, believe me, if that will affect your suggestions. Her dress is off-white and lace.

I've always struggled with ties, so I suppose that is why I procrastinated with this. Any suggestions on a direction to take would be most appreciated.

How about a navy knit tie? Casual, classic. Solid dark color goes well with pale skin. Very James Bond vibe.

I may convince her on knit ties yet with that ammunition.

          How about glen plaid?

I could probably pull that off - is a prototypical wedding tie able to be 'scaled back' with a very casual suit, or will it look out of place next to, say, a tieless groomsman?

              What are the groomsmen wearing?

I probably should have said 'best man'. He is wearing a navy blue check suit, I believe.

dark navy linen suit with white shirt pale skin and a summer wedding? How about a light baby blue solid cotton tie?

You've got a lot of latitude. If there are colors as part of a theme to the wedding, you could go with a subdued yellow or red tie.

Thanks for the suggestions all. As a matter of fact, the flowers are going to be mostly yellows, so perhaps that might work.

Lib, my advice would be to make the decision ASAP and don't second guess yourself. A solid navy, burgundy, wine, or dark red will never go out of style. Pick something simple that you'll be happy with when you look at your wedding photos in 50 years.

                        Congratulations!
