  • Help finding quilted jacket

    Hello all,

I am new here and figured this would be the best place to get help finding a spring/fall quilted jacket at an affordable price. I am looking for a quilted jacket similar to what the reviewer is wearing in the video below. Preferably under $150, but the less inexpensive the better. I have looked at Amazon and found some chinese stuff, Huckberry, Barbour, Nordstrom, Lands End, JCrew, and others with little success in finding something affordable that looks similar. If anyone knows of a similar jacket from an affordable brand the help would be much appreciated.

I have a J Crew Sussex jacket that I really like. if you keep checking you can catch it on a good sale that puts it in your price range easily.

I second the Sussex, it's great.

You can often find cheaper ones on ebay/equivalent.

I have looked at the Sussex and was considering purchasing but my size is no longer in stock. I would like to be able to purchase from a place where I can return if necessary. The sussex isn't exactly what i was looking for but definitely looks nice. The thing I like about the one the presenter is wearing in the video is that it has a bomber/racer vibe to it but with the quilting. Similar to the Barbour Gabble linked below but that one is a bit steep at the moment.

If you like Barbour and don't need the jacket immediately, I recommend being patient with END Clothing. They're based in the UK and have pretty frequent sales on the brand for very good prices. I paid about $80 for my last Barbour quilted jacket from them this fall.

I have this quilted coat from Lands End and I absolutely love it. It is an affordable alternative to the Barbour quilted coat but it looks and feels just as a good. You can often find it for $75 during one of Lands End's 50% off sales. I wear it mostly during the Fall-to-Winter and Winter-to-Spring transitional seasons and it's been perfect. It's best for temperatures between 40 and 55. It can be dressed up and down: I often layer it over a sport coat during the work week then over a sweater and jeans during the weekend.

I was looking for something similar about 2 years back. I couldn't really find anything I liked for the price you're wanting to spend. The only options I saw were fast fashion brands or sketchy online only stores, and I wasn't about to gamble with either of those.

I ended up going with the Barbour Chelsea Flyweight from the link below, but at approx. $250 it sounds like that is out of your price range. IMO, unless you need the jacket right now, you might be better off saving over the summer so you can buy the Barbour one you want once fall rolls around.

Bonobos makes a few quilted jackets like that. I believe the Banff model most closely resembles the one in the video.

I love the look of the JCrew Sussex, particularly its matte finish, but I can't get past the swishy sound it makes.

I picked up a jacket from Target a few years back that is just about a dead ringer for that jacket for dirt cheap...maybe 50 bucks max. The quality was pretty lacking though, some of the quilting came undone pretty quickly, so I'm not sure I'd recommend. I'd say for outerwear, it's worth considering spending a few extra bucks, and getting something quality. My vote would be Barbour, you can't go wrong. Maybe wait for an inevitable Macy's sale on this one?

That’s a nice looking jacket but it’s a bit of a hybrid. Quilted but in a baracuta style which I haven’t seen before. That might make it a little difficult to find at more affordable places than right from the source at Barbour.

Thanks for all the help. I think I am going to take the wait for a sale approach and get the Barbour. I appreciate all the help.

I also own the Barbour Chelsea Flyweight (in navy). I love it. Nicest jacket I've ever found. I had a tailor take it in slightly (Barbour are still a bit generous with their fit, at least for my body type), and since doing that I never want to take the jacket off. Highly recommended! I agree with the post above, though... you should be able to find this on sale if you're able to wait even a little while. I think I got mine for $160ish, if memory serves.

I think the exact jacket in the video is the Barbour Woban. If you're waiting for a sale you can get it at Macy's. The product image on the Macy's website is for the charcoal color but it says navy is available. They're taken directly from Barbour so Macy's probably just took the wrong image for their website.
