    Waterproof Suede Protector

What brands of water protection do you gentleman use to protect your suede shoes from rain?

Preferably something that doesn't darken the suede. Thanks.

I use both the Tarrago Nano Protector and the Saphir Super Invulner. I don't think either of them darkens the suede significantly when dried. I do tend to use the Saphir on more expensive stuff and Tarrago on everything else.

Saphir for me. I've used it on 5 pairs of suede. No color change.

I use Tarrago Nano Protector. This video sold me on it.

This video inspired me to go out and get some suede protector as well. I couldn't find Tarrago so I went with the MOneyworth & Best option I found at the local shoe repair store. I was able to recreate the experiement from that video with the same results, although I didnt try it with hot coffee.

I've used Allen Edmonds spray without issue either.

Saphir and AE sprays. Both do fantastic.

Just remember to re-apply it every few months or so (depending on how frequently you wear the shoes of course).

I used the Allen Edmonds stuff for a while but then quit because I didn’t care. It turns out water and snow don’t ruin my suede shoes

Water and snow may not, but you ever see red wine just bead up and roll off untreated shoes?

Cause it does when you spend the 7 bucks on a can of protector spray.

Not necessarily about water and/or snow....there's lots of other liquids out there that CAN ruin them.

I've had dye from Gustin jeans wear off on my suedes when I didn't protect...

Just grabbed suede bucks from recent AE clearance; this thread was a good reminder to treat before I enjoy (I'm a fairly strict traditionalist with bucks and seersucker - only btwn Memorial Day and Labor Day...so I have a couple months to get this done...ah, the procastinator peeks out)
