I used to hate them. then soemhow my entire collections was dive watches. Now I am back to a pretty even ratio. They are useful for timing at the grill, I will say that.

I'm with you on this one. I like just about any other type of polo but I really don't care for piqué cotton polo shirts.

I think they look fine but I don't get how they're supposed to be comfortable in the summer. They're thick and hot.

Once upon a time pique golf shirts were relatively loosely knitted. The airflow that weave permitted, plus the resulting bumpy texture like seersucker lifting the cloth off of the skin, made them cool to wear, and as a side benefit fairly stretchy. In my teens I worked at a private golf club and our Tommy Hilfiger shirts were loose enough to stick a toothpick in without damage. For whatever reason pique weaves tightened up, perhaps because people started wearing them for more indoor-based or business activities. I find they're much denser and thus heavier nowadays (and I had my old work golf shirts in the back of a drawer until a couple years ago to compare).

I've been known to wear AE Strandmok 2.0's in gray suede (with the white vibram sole) with loafer ("no-show") socks. But I've not gone sockless in anything other than shower shoes for a very long time.....
