  • Affordable OCBD shirts in colors like Navy or Black??

Anyone have ideas? I love the look of Taylor Stitch or Gitman Vintage, but they're more than I want to spend. Just looking for a standard fit OCBD with plain white buttons but in darker colors.

J Crew makes a regular fit navy ocbd with white buttons. https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens_categor...me=tonal-black Gap makes one too https://www.gap.com/browse/product.d...233&pcid=15043
Ralph Lauren has one too if you don't mind the logo that gets pretty cheap with their discounts https://www.ralphlauren.com/men-clot...on-down-shirts

But a regular fit black ocbd with white buttons is going to be a hard ask since not too many of the cheaper companies make black oxfords in general. The ones that do are probably going to be in a slimmer fit since a black oxford seems to be more 'fashion' than most other colors and that's just where things are now. Frank And Oak have one https://www.frankandoak.com/product/...shirt-in-black but it's a slimmer fit.
Proper Cloth have one too, but I'm not sure if the price difference between them and the ones you're looking at would make it worth it https://propercloth.com/dress-shirts...iABEgKLYvD_BwE

Uniqlo has one with black buttons? https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/men-oxf...-casual-shirts

Hugh and Crye makes pretty nice OCBDs. They don't have navy and black - closest at present is charcoal and a dark indigo chambray, which doesn't look all that close to navy, and I'm not entirely sure that chambray and oxford cloth are the same thing...in fact I think that they're not. Their selection of colorways is pretty limited right now compared to past years so they may be rolling out a bunch of new colors as we move into spring. $68 bucks a pop isn't cheap but not outrageous either and their fit system can get a closer to custom fit than most retailers.

i have a Gitman Vintage overdyde oxford that is just awesome, and super super beautiful of a shirt. but it's super super thick. it's almost as heavy as some of my flannel. Find one on ebay anyways, it's a rad shirt.

Sorry to ask a tangential question on this thread...but how would the forum members wear a black oxford? I wear a lot of black and dark grey, but I've never owned a black button-up because I just couldnt' figure out how to wear it.

From reading this forum, I'm guessing my style is a little different than most guys here, but looks that I've gone with recently with a black oxford

            - black ocbd, maroon chinos (https://bonobos.com/products/stretch...winter%20wines), black loafers
            - black ocbd, light jeans, black chelsea boots
            - black ocbd, black jeans, black boots (specifically these https://www.jackerwin.com/collection...=5505155432463)
            - black ocbd, camo jacket (this one https://www.jcrew.com/p/H6539), dark selvedge jeans (https://theunbrandedbrand.com/produc...retch-selvedge), AE Walnut Daltons

The black ocbd's I have are https://www.ralphlauren.com/men-clot...on-down-shirts in slim, https://www.everlane.com/products/me...ens-shirt-shop, and http://us.topman.com/en/tmus/product...-shirt-8399724 (I got this one is two sizes up from my normal size or else I looked ridiculous. Nordstrom had it on sale for like $18 some time ago)

Honestly anything you could wear a black t shirt with, you could wear one of those shirts with and not have it look out of place.

With jeans. Probably step it up with some nice brogues or monk straps. That's what I want it for.

That Ralph Lauren is about perfect ... but damn I hate having logos.

Looking at possibilities that aren't traditional oxford cloth material. Mostly just like a heavier weight button down style. Thanks for the replies, folks.

Evan how would you compare Gitman shirts sizes to Jcrew?

I have a closet full of slimfit Jcrew OCBD so I know what works there.

Are they the same across the board?
