Thank you, HB. That was my thinking as well.

Quick note of follow up on this...and for what it's worth:

I did go with these from Nordstrom (now to figure out what to match with them) (my wife liked them and they looked great with jeans:

And then also decided to go with these (Have them with the white bottom and they are ridiculously comfortable):

So much so that I may order these as well:

One other note...my wife was not a fan of the white bottom shoes/blazer/slacks combination. So nice work folks. The gray shoes were different, on sale...

TBH I don't like any of those, and especially not for wool trousers, but if you are happy with them then good on you.

I have a pair of the Hamiltons in black and the Kneeland in brown--both Cole Haan/Grand, Grand 2.0 lines (I think)--and I have been terrifically happy with them. They are more conservative, but my workplace (and thus my workday dress) leans in that direction despite not having a formalized dress code. I highly recommend them. They are damn comfortable shoes.

I agree you can wear them with charcoal. But to me they look so informal if you're wearing wool dress trousers. That said, what's most important is how you feel when you wear them. Sounds like you've found what works for you.
WHY ARE THE GUYS IN SUITS HERE? HAS SOMETHING GONE WRONG?

I was tired of being 'uncomfortable' in the shoes I was wearing. Now granted I wasn't wearing Allan Edmonds either...but needed something a little more fashion forard and comfortable.

And in my line of work, I don't need to be overly formal....I can do that if the need arises of course.
