    Hiking Shorts

Anyone have any recommendations for hiking shorts? I'm looking for something that is breathable, above the knee, and lacking the giant cargo pockets that most hiking shorts seem to have.

This is the only pair that I've found so far that doesn't seem to be excessively baggy: http://www.rei.com/product/827763/mo...on-shorts-mens

    CARGO!

But honestly, hiking is probably the one place where cargo shorts are fine, haha. I think you're on the right track at places like REI, maybe try LL Bean?

I just got a pair of C9 "golf" shots from Target that are very nice. Breathable, nice looking, comfortable.

        I'd recommend something like these:

I have a similar pair (that sadly it seems L.L. Bean no longer makes), but they are very light weight, and unless someone is inspecting them up close, they can just about pass for chinos.

Edit: I actually found the kind I have in the sale section. The rear pockets are a little more traditional and they have a 9" inseam (I can appreciate that extra inch being 6'4")

although mine are from a few years back and the stitching is less contrasty. Hands down the best shorts I've ever owned

Patagonia makes some pretty nice ones that I actually use as swimshorts too. Also the North Face ones of similar use. I think they're around the same price point as the Mountain Hardware you linked.
