Boat shoes in the desert, or is it/ am i just an oxymoron?!

With a confused look on my face, shruging my shoulder, and both hands up, I ask you this question. Quick run down....going to vegas this weekend, i've got brown leather wingtip medallion toe shoes for the night time or for a nicer look during the day.

But I also have blue sperry boats that are so damn comfy, slip on and off for security, i guess would work for the pool(which will be the first place we got to after landing, didnt get early check in but thats ok pool time. i cant stand flip flops(hip hop aint feeling them flip flops they're feminine) but, im sure alot will feel the same way about me trying to pull off "BOATS" in the damn "DESERT" might not be feminine just stupid haha. I tryed them with, gasp, jeans. Darker dressy jeans, thought it looked good. but i know...no jeans...mo socks...if your not on a boat, dont wear them. I'm sure half if not all the men out there even my friends will be wearing beat up worn sneakers, or flip flops...and most likley black dress shoes.

FWIW...im 28,live by the shore, 5'12,136lbs,puerto rican so tanned skin(no not tanning, just natural). i saw on another forum the age kept coming up, dont think it matters..or just got with my low top grey/white converse chucks??

Wear what you want. Boat shoes lost any sort of stigma at least 30 years ago. I wouldn't wear them with dark dressy jeans but they're perfect for the pool or with shorts.

Dress for style, live for results.

Echoing what Tom said, boat shoes are now really just casual shoes. If you wear boatshoes, you'll be dressier than most people in Vegas already. I typically don't wear them often with jeans (tho do sometimes when I'm running out for errands on a Saturday, etc.), but with chinos or shorts, absolutely.

around the pool wear whatever is comfortable and comes off easily/can get wet. Walking around or in the casino can't go wrong with a chukka/desert boot if you want to be casual.

I live in Tucson and one of my go-to summer shoes are a pair of boat shoes I own. Stylish and comfortable.
