    Perry Ellis Cotton suit

    Hey guys,

What do you think of the suit Joe recently reviewed? http://dappered.com/2012/04/in-perso...n-summer-suit/

It looks really good to me. I have fairly long arms already, so I might be able to ignore his main complaint about it. But do you think it would be versatile enough? I've mostly just been looking for a highly versatile blazer, but for this price, I could get a full suit. Would the jacket be fine on it's own with some denim or something?

Unfortunately, they don't have my sizes, but I'll keep an eye out to see if they update.

Three things killed it for me

    1. Lack of a lapel pocket. I really enjoy wearing pocket squares (almost always a square fold plain white) and the inability to do so here kinda breaks the deal for me.

    2. My arms are short, and i've only ever had one 38R jacket that wasnt WAY to long in the arms, only kinda long. Being that this has functional buttons that would likely cost me quite a bit more in tailoring.

    3. I just bought a summer suit in the Bonobos Navy Seersucker. So i don't really need another one.

That being said, those are just my personal drawbacks, but they are probably non-factors for a lot of other poeple. Disregarding my 3 points above, it looks like a fantastic deal to me, maybe even a steal if you don't have to do much tailoring.

I ordered it simply because it was so cheap. I also was timid because the lack of chest pocket but figured I will just try it on and see if I like it, and if I don't send it back. I think it can be a pretty versatile piece, so it seems like a good deal. I wonder if there is anyway to have a chest pocket added to the jacket? I ordered pants that were longer than required, because I prefer to have them tailored, so maybe with the extra fabric.

Since it was so cheap and only a $6 return I made the purchase. I, like many, am worried that the sleeves are going to be too long and the tailoring is going to be cost prohibitive (if even possible).

Since you are still looking and haven't pulled the trigger yet, I'll post back early next week once I receive it to let you know my opinion.

I received it a few weeks ago. I think it's one of Joe's best finds since that orange windowpane tattersall shirt from LEC which is now sold out.

The arms do run long and suspect it can't be tailored. I know many here are devout worshippers at the Temple of the Immaculately Tailored, but I'm fine with its fit off the rack. It probably hits the base of my thumb but this only underscored the fact all my suits and blazers run too long in the arms; but how often in the day are you standing still with both hands by your side? Having said that, I think there is a direct correlation between the accent you put on tailoring and how much you'll enjoy the purchase.

It seems well constructed for the price point. Some have said the pants run big; they aren't slim by any means but I find they fit well and they aren't MC Hammer pants.

This is my first summer suit and what shocked me most was how comfortable it is. It drapes nicely and seems weightless, like wearing a cloud. Certainly a nice change from heavier chino-type blazers.

Agree with the lack of a pocket, but you slap this on with a chambray, linen or knit tie and you're good to go. My wife said it makes me look like a Panamian sugar broker, but I think it really captures the spirit of summer. I still think it's vastly unfair that you aren't supposed to wear this past Labour Day. Who makes these daft rules?
