    Cheap Cap Toe or Wingtip

I am looking for something else like this: http://j.mp/J3NtAe

I am NOT a fan of the Buck shoe shape — too bulky. Something sleeker like the one linked above. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Ben: I prefer not to buy on Ebay.

Jessy: Nice, but too pricey indeed.

Jessy: Not bad. Bit bulky and bit too high a price for what I need still though.

Something like this is pretty much what I want: http://j.mp/IUi30a

Just not from Stacy Adams. Want to know of other places to get similar shoes.

You're asking to find a classic American shoe with a modern European shape. Not an easy find, in any price range. Regardless of your preference not to use eBay, that's probably your best bet to find something that meets your requirements in your price range. Just sayin'.

BenR: Alright. What should I search for? I'm never very good at it (putting aside that I don't like to buy used)...

Also, can I just ask why it's so hard? I just want a nice looking oxford that isn't all bulky. I see them all over, and don't understand how people even like wearing bulkier shoes (Bucks, etc)...

Just to clarify - are you looking for any old cap-toe oxford, or one in suede/nubuck? Because "Buck" is not a brand, it just refers to the classic, Ivy League nubuck shoe. Which is an American classic and tends to have a slightly blockier shape than other styles of shoes, regardless of manufacturer.

BenR: Nope. Doesn't have to be suede/nubuck. I just tend to find that most buck/nubuck shoes are blockier, like you said. Non-suede would be fine too. I'm looking to wear it with chinos and a button up (and sweater). Casual, but not too casual. Basically, the most basic shoe I should have (and yet somehow don't). I just want to know of some options (preferably under $100, but anything around there too).

Help me out here: What is it about the Stacy Adams shoes that you don't like? It seems to have the shape and price that you're looking for.

runners: Ah, I want to know where, in general, people go to get a nice cap toe shoe/oxford. Stacy Adams is low-end, and only one style. I'd like more than one pair as well, and so I just want to know where the "go-to" place for shoes is.

You are asking for a go to place for new, high end shoes, for under $100. I think the answer is nowhere. If you want to hover in the $100 range, B&S forums and eBay are the only places you are going to get quality shoes at that price.

If you want new at that price, youre stuck with Stacy Adams, Florsheim, etc... If you want higher end new, you need to fork out another $150+ (or look for some AE seconds which will still be $50+++ over your budget).
