Would this flex wool navy blazer that was listed today on sale be a good alternative to the one listed in the cotton/linen Ludlow one that was listed in this year's section as far as being a lightweight versatile navy blazer?

Considering what most people wear to funerals, and just in general, a navy suit seems fine.

It looks like that JCF one is a suit jacket that is available as a separate. That kinda leads into a whole different discussion of weather or not one should wear an actual suit jacket as a Blazer/spoart coat....I cant really tell from the online pics (on my phone) what the fabrics texture and weight is like, but based on what i can see and the jackets styling I would personally not go down that route with this jacket. Others opinions will probably vary though.

Well their main suggestion was also a JCF Thompson jacket, but in chino so I'm guessing at least the author of the articles felt like it was ok.

Correct, but the one suggested in the main article is specifically labeled as an "Unreconstructed Chino Navy Sportcoat" the flex wool one you are asking about is specifically labeled as a "Suit Jacket in Flex Wool".

Interestingly the cotton-linen blazer looks as much like a suit jacket as the actual flex wool suit jacket. Flap pockets and so on. Both could be passable as a "navy blazer" but neither is ideal IMO.

cotton/linen fabric and much more unconstructed...in still photos it may seem similar but in person they feel/look much different
