Seiko JDM SARY on sailcloth. Seems like sailcloth could be used more!

Fresh new battery and a resized bracelet in my Longines quartz chronograph. I know that it’s not a traditional style but I still really like this watch. The butterfly clasp bracelet is the most sturdy I’ve ever had.

After the initial excitement wore off, I've managed to convince myself that the closest I could get to a space-going Speedy is actually still the regular old one w/ 1861. It sounds stupid but the faux-tina really turned me off on the new release, more so than the price tag perhaps.

Same sentiment, looks interesting, but 14k is a lot to drop on a speedy

Slightly OT: anyone else intrigued by the new stainless steel Speedy w/ cal 321?

So I didn't actually buy any watches while in Tokyo. The only watch-related activity that I managed during the short trip was to make a pilgrimage to the Grand Seiko store in Ginza. I'm also not entirely certain on the duties. So obviously tons of things you buy in Japan (say clothing) as a visitor will be duty free. But it would appear that not every brand/store does this? We inquired about a handbag at a luxury brand boutique for my wife and was informed that they wouldn't do duty free for us which made it more expensive than it would be in the US. /shurg
