I had not even noticed that aspect. Maybe that is the pleasing thing about this watch that makes me like it. Maybe that and the cream/off-white color of the dial.

White field watches are often boring. This one isn't to me. The dark outlined hands and long tips, the railroad track, and the little pips on the hours give it some character without being crazy.
