At a size 36 that fits, you really shouldn't pay any attention to me. It's incredibly hard, as you probably know, to find something in that size. I have a TOUGH time finding anything in a short ... ever.

The YSL made in France is probably safe. Is the Dior from their Dior Monsieur line?

    Comment

Yup, the Dior is from the Monsieur line and is labeled 'Tailored in America'. I saw on StyleForum that its indeed what you described. The YSL doesn't have any sub-brand/line and says Made in France but it also has a label for the men's store who sold it stitched inside the jacket. Either way, whatevs - they are casual blazers with patch pockets and in good shape. I just dropped them off to be dry cleaned and I'll have my friend who is a tailor take the waist in for me. I can always use more casual blazers. At $16 they are not the super awesome deal I thought at first but I'm not gonna complain!

Alright, let's try to revive this thread. Where are the major players? JC? Alan? Why have you forsaken the Dappered Thrifting thread?

Oh, well. Here's a recent pickup, my first non-shirt T&A. If this fit, I would wear it every single day, even in the 99999-degree summers down here. Unfortunately, it's tagged a 44 R and fits pretty much like it says.

And I don't know how old this guy is, but it's old enough to be totally sweet as hell.

I think I've complained about it before, but I'm really frustrated with how expensive my local thrift stores are. I know the purpose is still for a good cause, but they literally have a monopoly on the area. Many of their items are approaching a price point where you'd be better off going to Target or Old Navy on sale. $5 for a second-hand silk pocket square is outrageous.

So, I found two pairs of brown brogues -- leather uppers, leather soles, one is welted (other looks glued). One fits fine, the other is the right length but too wide (EEE, I'm a D or an E). It slips around when I walk in it. I put an insole in it but that doesn't seem to help much. Is there any hope for that pair, thrifting experts?

Went first time thrifting last week.

                    Scored:

Armani Collezioni Navy Pinstripe suit $20

Armani Collezioni Navy Sport Coat- $12

Isaia Light gray pants - $3 Tried looking for the jacket but no luck

Still looking to score for a vintage pair(s) of Longwings.

                    Needless to say I'm addicted.

My local resale store has a 38R BB Fitzgerald fit suit in chalk-stripe gray for $99. Pretty much unworn condition. Gorgeous and fits me like a dream. Except... the sleeves are too short There's not enough fabric to lengthen them enough either. I've tried it on twice and feel worse about leaving it there each time, it's just tragic. I'm guessing there's nothing I can do, is there?

^ Arm shortening surgery? It all depends how far you're willing to go for a good suit. :P

I think I posted several months ago about a BB Brooksgate glen plaid 3 piece suit I found at a Salvation Army. I had high hopes, but ultimately decided it would need to much work for me, so I completely forgot about it until I found it in my closet this weekend.

I'll put it on ebay if I have to, but I'd rather have someone here get some use out of it. It's marked as a 38R, but seems to me more like a 36R (I remember it was 17" across in the shoulders). I can take more measurements at home if anyone is interested.

                              Comment

@LosRockets: I'm a 38R in the fitzgerald fit. Any chance you'd want to pick that up for me?

Do you normally wear a 38R? Maybe get a measurement on the sleeves? Is there any material to let out?

Could you possibly take a picture of the pattern/fabric?

I usually have to have the sleeves on 38R's reduced by about an inch, so it might work for me.

                                Thanks,

                                Z
