Official "How Does This Fit?" Thread

Hey guys, please give me your opinions on this one, especially the shoulder fit.
- This is a 42S. No more 40S available.
- The point of the jacket shoulder sits about an inch longer than the end of my shoulder. Can you tell? Do you need to see the whole body to really tell if the shoulders are balanced?

What I plan to ask tailor already:
1. Take in the extra fabric in upper back. Cause of the ripple near the collar.
2. Take in waist. There's an extra 3-4 inches. I tried to show how it would look by overlapping the jacket like a double breast.
3. Shorten sleeves.

How roomy are the sleeves? From a couple of those pics it looks like a lot of the sleeve is substantially hanging off of your wrist.

Looking for some friendly advice on these dockers alphas. I recently lost a bunch of weight so this whole slim-fit thing is pretty new to me. I have been getting mixed reviews from friends and family on whether to keep these or not. What do you all think of the fit? Thanks in advance!

I know a lot of people rant/rave about Alpha Khakis, but they're just too slim for my personal taste. I really like the Bonobos straight fit, which feels "tailored" but not too trim. Just my $.02.

Thanks for the reply. They get a little more snug in the thigh when I sit, but nothing ridiculous. Crotch doesn't really seem to show off any moose knuckle either, which I was concerned about before purchase.

Obviously I would air dry these guys, but I was curious if anyone had any issues with shrinking?

I was wondering if you gentlemen could help me with fit. I'm new at this stuff so it's hard for me to figure out what works. Here are two shirts and a jacket.

I got these items tailored, but I'm thinking I should have started with a size S, especially on the OCBD. The sleeves are too long and baggy, am I right? However, trying on the size S in store it felt too tight, especially around the chest and especially when I moved my arms forward in a sort of "hug" stance I could feel it pulling against the shoulders. Here is a picture of an Frank & Oak shirt which behaves similarly:

I think the OCBD looks fine. You want it to be a little more "casual" and loose, not tight. It's not meant to be a tight, fitted dress shirt.

With that being said, if you don't feel comfortable in it, then have the tailor trim the sleeves up a bit until you like it.

Spock, the OCBD doesn't look bad but it does look a little large. The sleeves seem a little long to me, too. It's personal preference, though. I would wear it a little trimmer but that's my own preference.

Ignore the horrific image quality. Was in a rush at the store and used wife's laptop (forced to edit in Paint) for upload.

Overall the blazer fits me fairly well, and I'm especially pleased with the length in the arms since that's usually an issue for me. But I'm concerned the waist length is a tad short. Thoughts?

Ya, my thoughts too It's a 38S that I tried on to compare to the 38R. S = perfect sleeves but short torso, R = the reverse problem. Annoying, but obviously the sleeves can be corrected with some tailoring.

Thoughts on this barn coat? I think it appears to be the correct size but just want confirmation that it doesn't look too tight.

The fit looks good from the front, but from the side it looks as though it might be a bit tight in the hip area and a bit loose in the back/waist area. I find I have the same problem with these longer jacket styles when they don't have a rear vent. Is it comfortable to wear? I generally steer clear of jackets that feel at all restrictive in the hip/thigh area.

To me it looks a little big but not bad. I'd size down one, if possible.
