It was only $35 so I won't be too upset if I get beer spilled on it.
Since you're not walking a red carpet and getting picked apart by fashionestas or the fashion police, I think you'll be fine with what you have- it's just about getting the best fit possible. And there are very good chances that you'd be one of the best dressed guys in any bar with that jacket- of course, if you run into fellow dappered brethren then you'd get competition

I bought that HUGO suit a year ago, before having a sense of fashion.
I tailored the trousers (waist and length).

      What do you think/suggest?
and by the way that jacket is heavy, makes my back tired after a bit...

Tristan, get it tailored at waist should look great after.

This is not so much a fitment question, but I didn't know where else to ask. Are the soles of these shoes too similar in color with the shorts? Or would I be okay with wearing the shorts in combination with the shoes?

99.9% of people aren't going to notice the soles match the shorts. You're fine.

Bought the JCP Claiborne blazer for $25 but not totally sure on it. I don't wear blazers so I don't really know if it fits properly. Size is 40R

Was this a recent purchase? I've been looking to buy a blazer within budget, and this one doesn't seem too bad especially for $25. What coupons/promo codes were used, if any?

I knew it was discontinued but figured I try looking for it in store. I found one in the clearance rack but the sticker still said $65 but I figured it's still good at that price. When it was rung up at $65 I casually offered that it was found in the clearance section. The clerk immediately offered to check back over in the section and when he came back he said "how about $25?", offering me the price I believe the Stafford blazer was marked at. The only reason I asked initially was because JCP had a 40% over $100 on non-clearance suiting and if the blazer wasn't on sale I would've grabbed some pants or something. So I didn't feel bad for getting it so cheap.

Long story short, check your JCP, there might be some hanging around. They still have the sale for 40% off $100 and 50% of $200 on suiting.

Wow, nice find. And thanks for the heads up!

                      Great deal on the blazer/SC!

FYI, I was at JCP today, returning some stuff, when I was told by a SA that starting on the 4th (not sure for how long), they will have a 25% off of clearance goods, and then an additional 20% off for opening a card/charge (either that it using an existing one - dunno as I don't have one, and I don't want one - so I kinda phased-out at that point).

The Claiborne tan suit was down to $50 already (30 for the jacket, 20 for the pants). Not bad, and the jacket fit me pretty good OTR, but I couldn't seem to find a good fit in the pants. I passed.

So how does the jacket fit on me? Anyone?

sanjay, the jacket's nice in the shoulders, but far too short in the body. If you're a fan of the short jacket style then it's fine. If not, I would exchange it for a 40L.

Thanks bruschetta. My intention is to wear it only casually so I was hoping it wasn't too short for that type of wear. Do you think I should have it taken in at all?

I agree with some others that it is a bit too short in the body, but considering how lean you are you can actually pull it off as a stepped up casual look. Not a bad find for $25.

Fit in shoulders is spot on. As for jacket's length, it really comes down to your personal taste. I know by rule, jacket should cover your behind completely, but you should see what works for you and your sartorial style.
