I mentioned in another thread, it wouldn't bother me so much if my other JCF jackets with softer shoulders didn't fit so well in comparison.... Seems like JCF executed this more structured shoulder much more poorly than the unstructured shoulders. That, or it just doesn't suit my deltoids haha.

Outside resting position, shoulders with more padding will show more divots.

I've actually never encountered something that I would consider a "soft shoulder" at J Crew, but then again, I haven't tried on all of their jackets. If someone could post an example of one that's soft, I'd like to see it.Last edited by believe0101; January 4, 2017, 06:55 PM.

I am having a hard time figuring out proper fit for a shirt collar. The rule of being able to get no more than two fingers between collar and neck is super inaccurate due to compliance of skin and soft tissues.
These are photos of a MTM shirt I got. Does it look too loose? I anticipate a bit of shrinkage similar to what I have seen in my other shirts.
One the the photos has me leaning my head forward and to the left, demonstrating a significant gap.
Thoughts?

Recently snagged this on sale. Size is 40 r, tried on a 38r and it was very tight in all areas so I went with the 40. Already plan to have a tailor take in the waist and taper the pants (not really pictured). How's the rest of the fit? It's a bar III from Macy's so it has decently sized shoulder pads

beaver - Looks really good OTR. Nipping the waist a bit will help give it some more shape. The back looks fine though, depending on the tailor, some will mess with the back and some won't. I could live with those sleeves for the cost of the suit. There is some extra fabric at the back of them you could potentially take out but it really depends on how much you want to spend.
I would just go with the waist for now.

JBarwick - Appreciate it. I prefer smaller shoulder pads so these take a little getting used to but other than that I enjoy the fit. The sleeves on my shirt are a tad long (laundry day) so I plan not touch the jacket sleeves. Good to see a consensus on just getting the waist done
