What do you think--does the jacket fit well enough to be tailored, or should I take it back?

I think it's not too bad, but in all honesty, the shoulders are a bit too large. Did you try the shoulder-wall test?
Obviously the sleeves are too long but that can be fixed.

It looks okay. Shoulders are too big but it's not awful. Is that the tweed suit?

Thanks for the input, guys. It's just the standard worsted wool Thompson.

It seems like the consensus is that the shoulders are too big, which I pretty much knew, and which is pretty much the case with any suit I wear, short of MTM. I guess the key question is whether they're too too big. I need a new suit, and sooner than later, but it doesn't need to be this one.

Am I wrong that the problem isn't as pronounced with the Ludlow?

I think the difference--if any--might be that the Ludlow shoulders are less padded, not that they're narrower.

Thoughts? Its an XL slim fit J. Crew merino. The shirt undernearth is a CT shirts diamond weave dress spread collar.

And...teaser for later....wedding suit jacket (napoli navy plain 46L, being tailored currently - though really not much needs to be done)

Wish I could see where the shoulder seams lie on the sweater. I think you might be able to size down to an L, but given that you wear a 46L jacket, the sleeves might be too short that way.

The shoulder seam lies right at the ball of my shoulder - a little close to going to the arm, but not bad. I thought about a large, but my shoulders are broad and I have long arms, so its tough to size down.

First time having sleeves tailored. Also had the waist taken in a bit. I have uncommon proportions (wide back and tiny waist).
Not sure why, but one of the shirts came back with the sleeves a bit smaller/tighter. It is driving me nuts because the sleeves wrinkle easily now.
I suppose it is not too much of a problem because I don't wear shirts like these daily, just special occasions.
Pictured: Charles Tyrwhitt Extra Slim Fit 16/35. I like these shirts because of the darts in the back, which help with my odd proportions.
What do you think? I have really struggled finding shirts that fit me, even after tailoring.

Hey guys, So I have been trying to incorporate a jean jacket into my wardrobe.. Im struggling with how it should be worn or how its supposed to fit, I managed to pick this one up at J.Crew today in a dark rinse for $37 which I thought was a pretty solid deal so I scooped it.. this is a size S wondering what you guys think on the fit is it supposed to fit shorter above my belt should I try an XS or something maybe I can alter at a tailor what are your guys thoughts again Iam not sure in terms of style how they are supposed to be worn and the length etc..also should I opt for more of a vintage worn "lighter" denim jacket instead of a dark rinse http://imgur.com/a/nAshH

                    Cheers

I think the fit looks pretty good there, I'd imagine the XS would be too snug for comfort. Personally, I prefer a lighter wash on a jean jacket so as to have some contrast between the jacket and dark denim, but for the 37 dollar price I'd hang on to the jacket, would definitely look solid with khakis. I always thought jean jackets had an inherent rebellious, cool vibe so i tend to wear mine a little carefree, with a few pins on the pocket. Remnants of my punk rock days, perhaps

Thoughts on the fit of this. It seems like the jacket is a bit short, however, I think it can work.

This is an OTR Spier and Mackay 40R 130s Grey Birdseye. I'm 5'10 175lbs. 16.5 neck, 35" arm length.

Looks nice! I'd just let out the waist a little bit since it looks like it's pulling - though that could just be the tag still on. Length is fine.

Thanks, I'm going to take it to the tailor sometime this week. Review (comparing Spier and Mackay, JCF and BarIII) coming soon.

I like the cut and think the length is good. It looks like it's pulling away from your shirt collar, especially on your left shoulder.

He is standing with his weight shifted so it is throwing off proportions. Looks like his right hand is super long.
