I think for a casual jacket that you'll wear with chinos/jeans, the 42R is better.

I personally like a trim fit and think both JC and GAP in small look good. GAP looks a bit better since it seems to give you more room in the chest. Medium will probably be too billowy as you mentioned.

I tried it on and it seemed like the shoulders were fine and the length of the body, too, but the sleeves were too long. I tried on a worsted wool jacket in 42R and it seemed like the sleeves were about right, but the body was a bit short. Also, the jacket seemed a bit tighter--I'm not sure if that's because of the different models or the different sizes.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of each. My thoughts are that the long is the better fit, as long as I get the sleeves shortened. Am I right?

Regular size fits better on you.

Is it just me, or do my new Beckmans look like big, fat clunkers on my skinny frame? I think the bulbous toes just don't suit me - my 1ks look amazing on me but I dunno about these:

Binarythird, I think that the shoes look silly, but you look great. The problem is that you're thin and in shape and your clothes are slim-fitting. The shoes do not fit in with that sleek silhouette.

thanks man, appreciate the observation..this is what I thought as well, the beckmans are just too clunky for my frame. I love the 1ks because they are much sleeker.

Need a little advice on tailoring. I bought a cotton Ludlow blazer that's a little long in the sleeves and needs taken in a little at the waist I think. What do you guys think needs to be done.

Sleeves shortened for sure. Probably around 1 inch. hard to tell if the waist should be taken in based on the pic, but it looks like a nice fit!

                        Hey guys!

I picked up this jacket from J. Crew the other day.

Considering that I paid $65 for it, it was just too good to pass on.

What are your thoughts about the fit? I was thinking about shortening the sleeves and maybe have the waist taken in a bit.

                        Thanks in advance.

farhad, The jacket looks good. The lapels are bowing a bit which makes me think that the shoulders might be too tight. How do they feel? Do you have a tailor whom you trust? If so, they would be able to give you better advice than any of us.

Looks good. I will leave the waist alone.

I don't own any suits that fit properly, and so I finally decided to give the Suitsupply Navy Napoli a try given the reviews on Dappered. I don't wear suits to work, so this is more of a special occasion thing.

Overall, I was hoping to hear some opinions on how it fits in a 42L. I'm 6' 5" with a trimmer frame (195lbs). It feels like it fits quite well except for the sleeve length. Does anyone know how much these Suitsupply sleeves can be lengthened, and whether that would make the buttons look funny?

                              Thanks for the input.

thetallone, the fit on the shoulders and waist looks great. (nice color on the suit also). the jacket is borderline short (it should cover the butt all the way), and the first button is slightly high (it should be just above the naval), but that's ok if you like that style of fit. I don't know about he sleeves, sometime you can feel for how much extra lining is available at the sleeve.
