Official "How Does This Fit?" Thread

Just got this suit. Its from the discontinued Joe Joseph Abboud line at JCP. I snagged the whole thing for less than $100 on clearance and some silly good coupons. 100% wool jacket lined in acetate and the pants in poly on the front to the knee. There is a little bit more padding in the shoulder than I am used to. I thought it didnt look great on but I think it is because the chest, waist, and sleeves need to be taken in/up. I'm still debating the purchase... I'm looking for a reason not to keep it, but I fear I am blinded by the price. Any thoughts from the fellas? Its a nice looking nailhead pattern.

Shoulders are either too wide or too heavily padded. Not worth it IMO.

Sometimes you just need a friend to tell you what you don't want to hear. It was like $85 only though... okay I'm taking it back.

Need a white oxford shirt to wear, and have been trying out a few different shirts.

As you can probably figure out, it's to be worn casually without buttoning the top button or two, and left untucked. Both of these are in small. Tried on the mediums, and they were much looser.

IMO, the JC is too small. Go with medium. GAP looks okay. Tuck them in and wear a belt.

I tried the JC oxford in medium, and it definitely cannot be worn casually, because it's much looser and I can button up to my neck pretty easily. It looks off without a tie. But I agree, it was a little small.

@Duvel is right, the Gap is a better fit based on the first photo, the JCrew looks too small. In the second photo it's not bad but I think if you account for shrinkage the Gap one will fit better after a wash or too whereas the JC may be too tight.

I find it to fit just right everywhere except the chest, where it's a tad tight. I'll probably just return it. LosRockets is right about if it shrinks, it'll be scary tight. Didn't think about that part.

It's 40mm in diameter and 45mm lug to lug. It definately reads as on the larger side, but it doesn't look out of place on my wrist. Photo below.

I'm looking at a new watch: it's gorgeous, but it's 41.5mm in diameter and 49.5mm lug to lug.

I'm worried that it will just look too big on me. Thoughts?

My preference is for smaller. I don't like a watch to take up more than about 2/3 of my wrist width. Generally that's around 42mm widest diameter.

So, I was at J Crew Factory today and they actually had a blazer in stock in 42L (the linen/cotton blue herringbone number recently featured on dappered). I tried it on and it seemed like the shoulders were fine and the length of the body, too, but the sleeves were too long. I tried on a worsted wool jacket in 42R and it seemed like the sleeves were about right, but the body was a bit short. Also, the jacket seemed a bit tighter--I'm not sure if that's because of the different models or the different sizes.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of each. My thoughts are that the long is the better fit, as long as I get the sleeves shortened. Am I right?

[MENTION=11233]facelessghost[/MENTION], I think the second jacket (42R) looks better. The 42L looks too long in the jacket length and the shoulders look a little loose on your frame too.

The 42R doesn't look too tight. I think the shoulders might be fitting a little better than the 42L although theoretically they should be the same size in the shoulders.
