I am a 5’9’’ and 150lbs. The 36R suit seems to fit great in the shoulders and sleeve length is appropriate to show ½ inch of shirt. It seems a slightly tight in stomach area but that could just be me not being used to well-fitting clothes. (My stomach/waist has grown in past year due to 12hr sitting at computer job). The 34/30 pants fit well on waist and length is appropriate but could be taken in a little near the legs. I struggled to take good pictures but hopefully these paint a good picture of how it fits on me.

I also want to make sure this Banana Republic shirt that I bought fits good on me. My problem always seems to be that my arms aren't big enough and shirts tend to be big in the armpit area (but I've been lifting lately to get stronger and fill out shirts better).

Thank you in advance for feedback. Very much appreciated.
In regards to the shirt I think the chest area and shoulders seem to fit relatively decent but there is alot of extra material in the sleeves and torso area, looks rather billowy.. just my 2c

Thanks for the feedback. Should I look for another brand then? It doesn't seem like I would be able to find a good fitting dress shirt without tailoring. Does anyone have any feedback on the suit?

It's the Tailored Slim-Fit Non-Iron Multi-Gingham Shirt

Hello! I've just discovered Dappered.com about a month ago and am interested in putting a little more time and care into the way I dress. One of the first new additions to my closet is going to be a navy blazer, and I've found several candidates, but I just am not sure I have the practiced eye to tell which is the best. Here are the three options:

Banana Republic Tailored Fit cotton sateen 38R (Nicest material of the bunch, but noticeably warmer = less useful in hot summer weather.)
front: http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/8158/igcr.jpg
side: http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/2882/1o2k.jpg

JCrew Factory Thompson pique 36R (Probably the least-nice material to the touch, but very comfortable fit.)
front: http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/3245/qjs1.jpg
side: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/3692/cuqk.jpg

JCrew Cotton Ludlow microstripe, unstructured size S (Color might as well be dark grey as navy. Easily to most breathable, which is a big plus a summer looms. Pretty rumpled out of the shipping box!)
front: http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/8493/ctno.jpg
side: http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/6924/0cqj.jpg

Thanks for any input you might have. Sorry about the lighting - I overexposed the photos so you could actually see the jackets, but it was more difficult than I imagined to get good photos. Apologies for any noob-ish-ness!

-Steve

Have you tried to size down?

Thanks for the idea. But that wouldn't work for me because if it was any smaller in the neck, it wouldn't fit.

Just picked up a Thompson cotton suit. I think the coat is fine, and the pants are baggy. I haven't found a great tailor yet. I took these to a woman, and she said she can't make the pants any slimmer. Maybe she's not great. What do you guys think?

The jacket looks a size too big all around (sleeves are too long, shoulders look a touch wide, waist doesn't pinch in at all). Try a size down. Those pants can and need to be slimmed. Try a different tailor.

I can't find a good one. That was my second. I wore my bonobos slim straight pants in because that's how I want the pants to fit, and she said it can't be done. Should I just take it to Nordstrom Rack?

Do they do alterations? If so, I've never tried it.

Yes they do. I've checked Yelp in my area, and only two tailors even come up.

I nabbed this jacket after trying it on in-store thinking it was hitting pretty closely where I wanted it. Then when I tried it on at home, it felt shorter to me with a higher button stance, so I'm second guessing. What do you think?

It also started opening up below the first button, showing a little bit of shirt. Didn't see that in the store either.

rlriii13: Which front pose is a natural position? Seems like it fits pretty well. If you are unsure or it does not feel right then return it. If you are like me you won't wear it if you don't like it.

rlriii13, fits very well to me. Not cropped at all and stance seems good. Nice buy.

Only as a matter of personal taste, I would suppress the waste ever so slightly to accentuate the quarters.
