    Fall weather raincoat?

Raincoat #1: http://imgur.com/a/OUFtb#0 is a thing of beauty, but costs almost a grand. Anything closer to 100? I understand that may be something of a stretch, so I'd also consider mac coats like A: http://imgur.com/a/OUFtb#1 and B: http://imgur.com/a/OUFtb#2, just so long as they/the collar don't look like this: http://images.asos-media.com/inv/med...e/image1xl.jpg...

Does it need to be waterproof? Because I just picked one up from the Gap yesterday. It was around $80 after 40% off. Mine is navy blue and resembles the first link.

    edit..found it!

Just looks like a regular Navy Mac or Single Breasted Trench without belt. Should be able to find these everywhere. Gap/BR/JCrew/mall brands, etc. Maybe even Macy's.

I thrifted my trench coat (brown single breasted) looks similar to this but color is darker:

TW Levin has some for less than $200 that PTO put on their list.

I was thinking of buying the one that TM Lewin has on sale, but they only had extra-large sizes remaining. Bust. El Nino is almost here and I'm not prepared to be stylin' in the rain. I am prepared to stay dry, but wearing a technical shell and businesswear isn't my favorite thing in the world.

Can't understand how I can buy a nice 100% wool, lined peacoat for $100 but basic cotton/nylon raincoats are all $150+.

I picked this http://www.mrporter.com/en-us/mens/t...aincoat/460667 up for around $160 a few months back and it's currently at the tailor to shorten the arms. I am psyched to wear this. It will complement my double breast tan trench very nicely. It was actually featured on the same PTO article like the TW Levin http://putthison.com/post/1010931027...c-raincoats-is

You talking about surplus store peacoats or do you have something else in mind? The JC dock peacoat on sales is really nice but $230ish.

That's a really weak sale for JC, though. I actually bought the Dock Peacoat (New, with tags) for about $140 on eBay last year- JC will eventually mark them down $20 and then put them on sale for 30-35% off, and 50% off Final Sale (though if you wear Size Medium, you won't find any unless you get an off-color like green/grey).

But nothing 100% wool should come close in cost to a cotton/nylon fabric in terms of cost, in my opinion. But for a stylish rain coat I am stuck with either a 100% polyester coat from a department store for $150, a really basic coat like the GAP Mac for $80, or an unholy expensive $500 coat from a boutique brand.

There was a BR trench featured here earlier this year. It actually looks pretty nice in person. Cost was less than $150.
