My impression from a commercial like this is: the advertiser thinks I'm too stupid to use my brain in making a decision.
Lord knows there's plenty of porn on the interwebs. I would rather hear the attributes of the burger or laugh at a punch line than get blue balls from a Hardees commercial!
I don't think they think we are so stupid that we will buy food after seeing that. I think they want us to enjoy the fun of such a commercial (and I do think it is fun) and that fun mood will be associated with their ads, and thus, they may get people in a good mood next time they see a Jack in the Box.
Same with Tom Ford ads. I don't think he thinks we will stupidly be hypnotized into buying something, he just wants to have unusual ads using hot women that will set a decent mood around his brand. It is better than the average Armani ad because you remember it and it creates the impression using pleasurable imagery that does use attractive women. It would be overdoing it if we were supposed to buy into the woman, but we are just supposed to enjoy her being there.
