    Removing/Changing lining from a blazer

I found a really cool Khaki Chino blazer at goodwill, seemingly perfect for summer wear. The only problem is that it has this uncomfortable and heavy lining. Are there any repercussions to having a tailor just remove the lining of a blazer.

Also, I was wondering in general. Can the lining of a blazer be replaced? Is this prohibitively expensive?

My tailor told me the cost for replacing the liner in a sportcoat is $125. Removing the lining may reveal that the seams were left unfinished and ugly, so you may not like that route.

To follow up on the cost of replacing a liner and its expense...

Lined garments are effectively two garments sewn together. The lining of a jacket includes a front, back, and sleeves. A jacket is not the easiest garment to make. To change the lining makes me think the entire jacket would need to be unsewn and then resewn.
