Wow - I didn't understand a thing in that first review.

Was there ever a time where the 3 piece came under $300? or there was a coupon for 30% off of ANY suit?

Macy's carries a Tommy Hilfiger 3 piece suit in that range. Some people don't like the shoulders on the Macy's Hilfiger suits, but I own one of their 2 pieces and it works for me.

I'm going to purchase this: http://dappered.com/2011/08/in-person-the-j-crew-factory-suit/

The gap between lapel and top button looks more severe in Joe's picture than the picture on the website:

By the way, would any of you ever purchase a Ben Sherman suit from the official website? Most thread on SF said that people buy them from Nordstrom Rack.

I'm a first-year law student about to buy my first suit...and I'm trying to go as plain/classic as possible so that I get my money's worth.

The suit I'm considering is off-the-rack suit or custom suit...which one is more "standard"?

            Here's the suit I'm thinking of: http://www.upunique.com/suits

As for the thread topic of brown shoes with black suits... I have seen it done, and quite successfully. See here:

That is Aaron Marino, image consultant. That is his facebook page for his company, Alpha M. Image Consulting. I have used his services and he is great. He is really down to Earth guy and has a keen fashion eye.

It can absolutely be done. If you're a peasant.
