• CT shirts: anyone else have an issue with them being see through? I thought it was just the weave... so I opted for the twill this time (3 shirts in their Egyptian cotton). All but one of them was see through and went back.

This made order a few BB ESF to try. Hoping for better results..

No. I have never had this problem, and I have CT shirts in poplin, Twill, oxford, and herringbone.

I think I ordered all Poplin from CT and they are all good shirts. The arms are a little weird for me on them, but other than they are great.

          • Do you guys wear undershirts? I hate when you can see the shirt through the shirt... like if I'm wearing a v neck you can see where the sleeve ends or if I'm wearing a tank you can see the whole thing.

Yes, I do. I don't care if people can see my undershirt. It serves to prevent my sweaty pits from funking up my button up

              • zcm, I don't think I've ever worn a t-shirt under a shirt. Not even as a kid. I don't see the point of it, because it just makes you hotter, and I think it looks ugly as sin to see the collar of a crewneck at the top of an open (no tie) OCBD or other casual shirt. It breaks up the natural v produced by the collar of the open shirt. To me, also, it's underwear. You don't show your underwear.

The most horrible infraction, something I see way too often, is a t-shirt under a polo. That's like wearing a t-shirt under a t-shirt. It didn't even look good on Bond in Casino Royale. (Vienna scenes, with the long-sleeved dark polo and light-blue t under it.)

I don't buy the anti-stain purpose either. If you're sweating so much that your undershirt is getting wet, then your shirt is going to as well. And maybe if you didn't wear the undershirt, you wouldn't be so warm and then you wouldn't sweat so much.

I don't wear a crew neck unless I'm wearing a tie. The other issue is seeing my nipples through the shirt.

                  • I wear undershirts unless it is a linen shirt or very casual setting. I wear grey v-necks (this one http://www.uniqlo.com/us/men/innerwe...ndefined-000-1) because they hide better under white shirts (that is, harder to see them). White undershirts under white shirts are very evident. Grey works better. Skin tone probably would as well but I don't have any experience with them. I also one Airism from Uniqlo. It is . . . interesting. Very good for warm weather, but I don't like the fabric/texture.

Grey shirts... interesting. I'll have to try it.

...and now for something completely different. Thoughts on this blazer:

                      • Hold on, I remember that I do wear a grey t-shirt with a dress shirt and tie and suit. The only reason is to keep my skintone from showing through. Otherwise, I have extreme dislike of t's as undershirts. I just can't see it as at all attractive with any open-collar casual shirt. Or necessary.

                        • zcm: Yesterday I remembered why I stopped wearing white shirts in general (t-shirts/dress shirts/long sleeve shirts). I, too, have the nipples issue.

Also, that's a nice looking blazer. What is it?

Vintage BB 346. 3 roll 2. Super tempting.

                            • So here's something I've been wondering... Should something like a mac/trench raincoat be worn only when it is raining or likely to rain, or can they be used as any other light coat?

                              • Raining or likely to rain. Otherwise you need to steer clear of parks and schoolyards.
