    I meant to do that!

What style rules do you break deliberately? Not because you don't know better--on the contrary, you know the rule or guideline or whatever, but choose not to follow it.

Myself, I like to wear white sweatsocks. I know you're not supposed to with anything but athletic gear. But I sometimes rock a good, thick pair of sweatsocks with my light-khaki chinos, low Chucks, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. I just think they look good that way.

I wear bluchers with suits all the time. I'm a wild man.

      Yeah, I guess!

I wear dark chocolate plain bluchers with my charcoal grey suit. (Gasp!)

Something else: I don't like to wear pocket squares. I almost never do.

I don't do watches. Or pocket squares.

          Really?! No watch at all?

I don't either. I don't like the feel of something of my wrist.

              Interesting.

I couldn't do without either the function (quickly checking the time) or the look (an easy accessory).

At the same time, I don't think not wearing a watch breaks a style rule or guideline that I can think of. I don't recall ever reading anything or hearing anyone say that a man should wear a watch.

                Thirded.

The other "rules" I break are wearing balmorals with chinos and wearing ties without a jacket. Usually at the same time. Although I think it should be noted that the tie is usually a silk knit, cotton, or chambray and my sleeves are rolled up... both factors that I think make it more acceptable.

I usually break rules because I am lacking clothing in a certain area. I am still accumulating my wardrobe and there is still a lot on the list. Worst offense may be gym clothes to run errands but this is usually because I just went to the gym not because (like I learned a lot of females do) wear gym clothes because they look like crap. My wife will through on Lulu's and a tank top to run errands because she doesn't want to shower and this then looks like she was at the gym? Weird.

Something of an inverse breaking of rules, maybe: I like to wear my OCBDs tucked into my jeans and with a belt. I know it is very popular to untuck shirts with jeans but I only feel comfortable doing that with polos and t-shirts. About the only time I wear my OCBDs untucked is lounging around the house.

I second bluchers with suits (even loafers! what?!). Really not that big of a faux-pas, since I see more people wearing bluchers than bals anyway!

Tie with the short end longer slightly than the wide end.

Tie loosely tied with the top button undone and sleeves rolled up in the early evening at social or casual events.

I actually wear my shoes and especially my boots, and I dont worry about creasing, I actually like the natural crease of where my foot bends in the shoe. I dont condition, waterproof, polish, and sing to them after every wear. I despise the look and feel of new out of the box shoes and purposely break them in.
