    Doctor Who Halloween Costume

Hey fellas. So my girlfriend decided that we would be doing a couples costume for Halloween this year and due to our relentless netflix streaming of Doctor Who episodes we decided that I would be the Doctor and she would be a "slutty" Dalek. I figured I would go for the Matt Smith version of the Doctor, since it seems the easiest. I have everything I need (including the sonic screwdriver) but the plaid tweed jacket. I was hoping to get some direction for some of the dappereders on where I might find a reasonably priced plaid tweed jacket. The thing is that I would like to get one that would work for the costume, but I could also wear again. Any thoughts on where I may find something like this?

Sorry, can't help you with the jacket but I do have to say, great costume idea. Slutty dalek is a new one.

I give my girlfriend all the props for coming up with the idea.

I was actually able to snag a jacket from eBay yesterday. It's not exact, but it should do fine. Maybe after it arrives and she finishes making hers I'll post a few pics. Should be interesting.

I'm in the same situation, except I'm trying to pull off a halfway decent 10th Doctor costume

This post gave me a few good ideas: http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglopheni...-tenth-doctor/

But http://carboncostume.com/the-10th-doctor/ includes amazon links to to stuff to actually buy, I'm just a little suspect of buying a $70 suit, especially online.

Right now I'm really only concerned about the suit, and the full length jacket. I'm thinking that a good quality blue (I'm guessing that's actually a navy with good lighting) pinstripe suit and overcoat could come in handy, and this might be a good excuse to invest. I live in NYC and have ventured into more than a few thrift shops to try and find a deal, but considering I'm 6'4" and have more of an athletic build, I have had no luck in finding much of anything that fits. Any leads on where I might be able to find a close match to the suit and/or jacket would be greatly appreciated!

The suit could be really tough to replicate. http://tennantsuit.blogspot.com/2010...-for-real.html Apparently the suit was from GAP (well at least the pants were originally). I would just try to find a four button pinstriped suit and go from there. Tennant wore both Brown will blue stripes and blue with red stripes. But any four button pinstriped suit with an overcoat and a pair of converse shoes would be easily recognizable to anyone who has seen Doctor Who. Grab yourself one of these http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Son...ic+screwdriver and it should be a slam dunk.

I ended up going with http://www.ebay.com/itm/141089815931...84.m1439.l2649 , burgundy bowtie and suspenders, some dark chinos, and probably the stafford camlins darkened with some polish. Oh and a sonic screwdriver! Not perfect, but I think it gets the point across.

I was going to post in the Friday Challenge, but I guess it is too late to enter considering that it is Saturday. Anyway, I posted some pics of my girlfriend and I in our costumes. I think they turned out pretty good. Keep in mind it was my first time tying a bow tie so it doesn't look great

Nice dude. Can't completely tell with it unbuttoned but it looks like the jacket fits pretty well. The Dalek costume looks really good for homemade as well.
