Since I know it's related to Amazon and I have free shipping both ways, I gave these black bluchers a try since that's really the only thing missing from my shoe collection.

Wasn't sure on the sizing since the site says they're TTS and so does MrPorter. The problem is that eastdane has the sizing listed in US while MrPorter has it listed in UK sizes. Which makes me a US9 on 1 site and a US8.5 on the other. Doesn't matter since the shoe was only in stock in an 8.5 so not much of a choice to be made by me.

I'm always tempted by chukkas but I already have too many of those.

Mark McNairy's are generally made by the English shoe company Sanders. The quality is definitely high and those boots are awesome.

Would you hold the quality above the Wolverine 1000K in your opinion? (Assuming you have held both) I bought those MM boots and my only concern is with the pebbled leather and the colored sole vs the more "traditional" look of the Wolverines.

Lol I'm responding to you in both threads. Sorry about that. When I say Sanders is "high quality," I don't necessarily mean on par with C&J or Vass or some of the really super high quality shoe makers out there, but definitely on par with AEs or Grenson. I have a pair of Wolverine 1000 Miles (these: http://www.lyst.com/shoes/wolverine-...-cap-toe-boot/) and while I love them, I actually kind've wish I would've bought something a bit more versatile that could be worn with tweed pants instead of strictly rugged casual outfits. I think the difference in quality is negligible... they're both fairly high quality shoes for the price. I think you'd probably be better served thinking in terms of what you want from a pair of ~$200 boots. The MM's slightly sleaker look makes it a more versatile boot in my opinion that wouldn't look terrible with slacks and a sport coat and would still look pretty awesome with denim. But, if you're looking for something a bit more rugged and casual, I'd probably go with the Wolverine.

I have 1 pair of Sanders, dirty bucks with a crepe sole. I think the quality is excellent, certainly on par with if not better than AE & Loake, but it's a little harder for me to tell with suede and crepe than in would be with calf and a leather sole. I'd certainly recommend them though. I think Thom Browne uses several manufacturers as well. I know Tricker's makes (or used to make) some for him. the Brooks Bros Black Fleece line that he started definitely has some by Crockett & Jones too.

Those are super tempting - but tan dress shoes are pretty well taken care of right now. If they were darker brown or black, I'd probably make an offer.

Fred, you think those would fit a foot that takes a 10D on the AE 5-last, or would it be too small? In other words, any comments on sizing on those?

It might be a touch shorter and a touch wider, but generally I would think that it would fit. Doesn't look like it sold so you could always make them an offer. I assume it will be relisted too, so maybe they will lower their BIN. Their feedback lists 3 other BB shoes, all different sizes, so obviously they are flipping. A tan wingtip balmoral isn't the most practical shoe, but you could certainly wear it any time you'd wear a walnut Strand, and it will be much better quality than AE. Looks like the original retail was $598 so you're looking at 63% off with the BIN, and maybe better if you can get him lower.
