Most of my knit ties are 2.75" by Paul Stuart. I think I'd actually prefer 3". I'm sure it will look great!

      • I know a lot of you are over at SF too, but I just wanted to point out this amazing deal on these Foster & Son by Edward Green shoes:
        http://www.styleforum.net/t/365214/f...0#post_6671716
Foster & Son is selling a bunch of EG shoes for Ā£416 (about $673) outside the UK. EGs from Brooks Bros are $1,270-1,420 so these are roughly half off the regular price. Not a ton of sizes so click over there and PM them if interested. For me I'd say the highlights are the Clifton and the Cavendish, but there's a nice cap toe (Portman) and austerity brogue (Regent) too. My wallet is thankful there's not anything interesting in my size. If anyone is a UK7.5E, 10E, 10.5E or 11.5E, the Clifton in Dark Oak on the 888 last looks amazing! Great deal on some grail level shoes.

        Clifton

        Cavendish

              • Jos a bank has a new entry in their sale-o-rama rotation - 70% off everything (online only). That's $7.50 per shoe tree. Free shipping starts at $50, so either throw in some hangers or other cedar stuff, or order at least 7, or your leaving something on the table.

Oh sweet mother of shoe-boners. Yeah I said it. I have gone a long time without saying it, Fred. I hate you :P

LOL! Both of those look really great. I almost pulled the trigger on the Gianni, but recent Vass and Alden purchases, plus some work on the house since we're hosting Thanksgiving this year, have pushed me back into budget sanity. Of course the Mr Porter and Barney's sales are both coming up in a month or so and they generally wreak havoc on my bank account too.

                    Did you get some cordovan?

                    • I have a thing for chukkas so those cordovan ones would have been tempting but way out of my price range. They don't have small sizes of either shoe in stock so I didn't even have to deal with being tempted by them.

Like you said, the Mr.Porter sale is coming up soon so I'm preparing to pick up a few items then.

Yep, I already have about 20 things in my Mr Porter wish list and another 20 in my Barneys favorites list, so I'm ready to pounce as soon as either sale goes live. Hopefully a few things from either list will be on sale.

Agh. No! I either hate you because I bought something or because I can't haha. They are lovely though.

Fred, Do you mind sharing what else you are keeping an eye on over at Mr. Porter or Barney's? I have a few Drake's items on my wishlist and some Grenson boots, but other than that I don't recognize most of the brands at Mr. Porter, so I don't know what is quality and what is not. Thanks!

I've bought a ton from Mr Porter's sales, and have generally been happy with everything. Whoever picks their inventory does an amazing job. The free shipping both ways and measurements listed for every item makes Mr Porter my favorite online shop. Currently I'm watching stuff by Drakes, Cleverley (no chance), Margaret Howell, Paul Smith, Richard James, Lobb (no chance), Church's, and Turnbull & Asser. In addition to those brands I've bought a bunch of stuff by Folk, Andersons, NN 07, Grenson, James Perse, Edwin, Billy Reid and probably others I'm forgetting. Their J Crew and BB stuff is often cheaper than the best sales from those stores when the Mr Porter sale hits 70% off. I'll almost certainly buy some more Bresciani socks if they go on sale. Really all their brands are great, I just tend to stay away from brands where a lot of the cost is paying for their advertising budget, like Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, etc.

At Barney's I'm mostly watching Crockett & Jones and Alden shoes, and Inis Meain sweaters. Last year they had some really great Seaward & Stearn pocket squares on sale that I got too but it looks like they aren't carrying that brand anymore.

                              • Oxxford on MyHabit! Suits and SCs are pretty limited in sizing but if you're a 44L and getting married anytime soon, you just hit the tuxedo jackpot. This was $4,495 now $1,495, and is a perfect black tie rig with some fun lining (I'm assuming the flap pockets can be tucked in.):
